City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney recently recognized four employees for their exemplary service during a ceremony for the City Manager’s Award. Water Resources employees William Harkins and Timothy Richardson, Public Works’ Tyrone Hedgepeth and Energy Resources’ Terry Johnson were each honored during a meeting of Small-Toney and the city’s Executive Leadership Team.

The City Manager’s Award recognizes employees on a quarterly basis who perform outstanding work and excel in the city’s core values of Customer-Centered Service, Professionalism, Respect, Teamwork and Support and Leadership.

Specifically, Harkins was noted for his development of a communications plan to improve the transition of sampling duties from operations to the laboratory, Richardson was acknowledged for showing concern for his co-workers, Hedgepeth was lauded for ensuring a safe work environment, and Johnson earned praise for spontaneously fixing a bicycle chain for a pair of youth.

Nominations were submitted online and via email by city of Rocky Mount employees and citizens.

The winners each received a trophy and a letter of commendation for their efforts.

“I’d like to congratulate the winners of the second quarter City Manager’s Award,” Small-Toney said. “They have exhibited what it means to be a city of Rocky Mount employee and have set the bar high for future recipients of the award.”
