Downtown Streetscape Project

Phase 1 of the Downtown Streetscape Project, which started May 2011, is now complete. The $6.5 million Downtown Streetscape Project has resulted in a wide array of street improvements, the addition of street trees, benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, widened sidewalks, decorative pedestrian level lighting to enhance safety at night, the conversion of some streets to two-way operation to improve traffic flow and access to parking, and changes to the infrastructure, such as underground utility upgrades and reconstruction of the storm drainage system.

Residents were enthused by the changes that resulted from what is a three-phase project, and now areas like Main Street and Thomas Street have experienced a major face lift. Thanks to the businesses who endured street construction for more than a year, and they are now reaping the benefits.
