View multiple requests   NATURAL GAS PRICES REMAIN STABLE FOR JULY - Friday, July 02, 2010 at 14:38
For the fifth consecutive month, Rocky Mount Public Utility natural gas customers can
expect to see natural gas prices hold steady. Heat only customers will continue to pay
$1.1985 per therm and $1.181 per therm for year round customers.

During the summer months, the natural gas market experiences a decrease in demand
due to a reduction in heating needs. The market reacts by lowering the wholesale cost
of natural gas. Because the demand and wholesale cost of natural gas has been
relatively flat in recent months, the City of Rocky Mount has been able to maintain
current natural gas prices. The City of Rocky Mount continues to pass those savings on
to its customers in the form of stable natural gas prices.

“Because heating demand is significantly lower during the summer, we have been able
to maintain natural gas prices for five months. We anticipate this trend will continue
throughout the summer season,” said Utilities Director, Rich Worsinger.
