Services

The City of Rocky Mount provides a complete package of services to make your connection to natural gas as convenient as possible. The following is a summary of our services. If you have any questions, you may contact our Gas Division at

Service Line Installation
The City will provide the first 100 feet of service line from the gas main at no charge for the first gas appliance. Any additional footage will be billed to the customer at $5.00 per linear foot. Gas Meter Installation
Upon release from inspections of all inside piping and appliance connections, a gas crew will install the gas meter by tying the service line into the appliance line at no charge.

Emergency Calls
The Gas Department responds immediately to emergency calls. Emergencies include:
  • Gas leaks in or around the home
  • Ruptured gas lines
  • Fire
  • Storm related damages

Builder's Express

 The Builder's Express Program is a service designed to be "One Stop Shopping" for area homebuilders for utility account set up, permit application, and inspections. Builder's Express provides homebuilders a convenient option to submit all paperwork at one convenient location.

Homebuilders submit their paperwork to the Inspections division staff. City staff members do everything else! Homebuilders can expect a 24 hour turn around for their submittal.
