How to Volunteer to Become a Youth Sport Coach
Volunteer Youth Sport Coaches are valuable assets to the Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department Athletic Division. These individuals demonstrate a selfless concern for the community as evidenced by their willingness to give of their time to help area children.
The Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department Athletic Division offers youth athletic leagues (basketball, baseball, softball, t-ball, track and field, flag football, tackle football, and girl's volleyball) throughout the year. Basketball season runs from early December to March, while baseball, softball, t-ball, and track seasons run from March to July. Fall baseball, /softball leagues, flag football, tackle football, and girl's volleyball run from August through November.
The Athletics Division staff will attempt to obtain a clear understanding of each potential coach's background, in an effort to place them in a volunteer position that best utilizes their experience, and provides for the safety and skill development of the City's program participants. Therefore, before a potential Head coach is permitted to participate in any of our youth leagues, he/she will be required to complete and submit our Youth Sport Coach application packet.
