During the month of October, Rocky Mount Public Utilities (RMPU) customers have a chance to win up to $150 off their utility bill by entering their best energy-saving recipe in the Watt’s Cooking Recipe Contest.

As part of the celebration of Public Power and Public Natural Gas Week, RMPU is hosting the recipe contest to encourage customers to use less energy in the kitchen. To enter, customers must simply enter a recipe that uses a cooking method (e.g. toaster oven, crockpot, microwave) instead of the oven or stove.

When everyone makes an effort to save energy, everyone’s a winner! Therefore, all customers who enter an energy-saving recipe in the contest will receive a free Watt’s Cooking chef’s hat and potholder (while supplies last). The limit is one chef’s hat and potholder per household.

The first, second and third place winners will receive one of the following credits toward their city of Rocky Mount utility bill: (1st place) $150, (2nd place) $75, (3rd place) $50.

The contest is open to city of Rocky Mount residential customers only. All entries must be received by Oct. 31, 2017. There is no fee to enter, but only one recipe may be submitted per household. Funding for the contest is provided by NC Public Power.
