After receiving public input and performing an analysis of the existing transportation conditions, the city of Rocky Mount is ready to reveal a draft of the Rocky Mount Bicycle Plan and the Connect 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

You’re invited to an Open House Tuesday, April 24 for a review of both draft plans. Participants, who may drop in between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., will also have an opportunity to speak with the project teams who compiled the plans and provide input on the recommendations.

The Open House will be held in the second-floor atrium of the Frederick E. Turnage Municipal Building (City Hall).

According to Bob League, city of Rocky Mount principal transportation planner, these plans are a necessity for Rocky Mount.

“Both plans shape the direction of the region’s transportation system and outline a regional strategy for a connected system that accommodates existing and future mobility needs,” says League.

The plans have been updated by the Rocky Mount Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), in partnership with Nash and Edgecombe counties, as well as member jurisdictions.

“You are cordially invited to participate in this public workshop and offer any ideas on the draft plans that have been developed,” says League. “The workshop will be set up like a drop-in, so stop in at your leisure to provide feedback.”
