Summer Night Lights returns to area parks

Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Night Lights program returns Friday, June 14, 6 p.m. at Hornbeam Park in Rocky Mount.

The block-party style event is free and includes games, inflatables, a live DJ, arts and crafts and more. The first 200 guests will receive a free hotdog, chips and a drink.

“Families really enjoy our Summer Night Lights program,” said Chris Allen, recreation services supervisor for the city of Rocky Mount. “This is our ninth season, and it just keeps getting better."

Summer Night Lights will take place Friday nights from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. in the following locations:

June 14 at Hornbeam Park, 150 Cunningham Dr. in Rocky Mount;

June 21 at Meadowbrook Park, 1742 Bedford Rd. in Rocky Mount;

June 28 at Three Sister's Park, 221 Walter Dr. in Battleboro;

July 5 at Buck Leonard Park, 929 S. Grace St. in Rocky Mount;

July 12 at Branch Street Park, 1731 Branch St. in Rocky Mount;

July 19 at Stith-Talbert Park, 729 Pennsylvania Ave. in Rocky Mount;

July 26 at Aycock Park, 1200 Aycock St. in Rocky Mount;

Aug. 2 at Lancaster Park, 1509 Barnes St. in Rocky Mount; and

Aug. 9 at South Rocky Mount Community Center, 719 Recreation Dr. in Rocky Mount.
