Rocky Mount Public Utilities launches customer survey

During the month of October, Rocky Mount Public Utilities (RMPU) will be conducting a phone survey to assess its efforts in educating the public about natural gas safety. The survey will include citizens of Rocky Mount and the surrounding areas.

A federal regulation requires natural gas utilities to measure how effective their public education efforts are in communicating natural gas safety information to customers and the public. This will be accomplished with a phone survey conducted by a firm named Blue Otter Solutions beginning around the first week of October.

RMPU wants to make sure everything is being done to ensure the public’s safety,” said Rich Worsinger, director of Energy Resources. “The phone survey is a way for us to not only meet the federal regulation but also to gauge the natural gas safety knowledge of the public."

The telephone survey will be conducted by an automated telephone polling system that will call a random sample of residences in this area and record the response to a series of gas safety questions. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete. RMPU will receive a report summarizing the answers to each question of its customers, non-customers and national participants. Customers are asked to please consider participating in this survey to help us improve our education methods.
