Rocky Mount Police Department to host more Chat with the Chief sessions
Posted on 11/06/2018

Citizens will have the opportunity to engage with the Rocky Mount Police Department during upcoming “Chat with the Chief” sessions.

Rocky Mount Police Department Interim Chief Willie Williams and his command staff will meet with community members from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the 1800 block of Berkshire Dr. in Rocky Mount.

A second meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Thorne’s Missionary Baptist Church at 1624 Windsor Dr. in Rocky Mount.

Chat with the Chief meetings are an informal way to discuss and answer policing questions or concerns.

“This is a great opportunity for people to engage in conversation with the chief and learn about the department and our incentives,” Rocky Mount Police Sergeant Brad Summerlin said.

Williams said it is also important that citizens establish long-term relationships with officers.

“Community policing is all about allocating officers to a number of different areas so they can get to know the members of the community,” Williams said.
