The public is invited to meet at the Battle Park boat ramp in Rocky Mount and Shiloh Landing in Tarboro to receive cleanup supplies and assignments for the 2018 Riverkeeper Cup Cleanup Challenge.

Volunteers are asked to participate by completing land and river cleanups. Boats are also needed. The community that collects the most trash by weight will take home the coveted Riverkeeper Cup.

“Our ongoing efforts to help keep Rocky Mount clean and green are having a positive impact on our community,” says KAB Coordinator Cornelia McGee. “This is also another opportunity to keep Rocky Mount clean, including our precious Tar River, and at the same time provide a nice incentive for those who are willing to assist.”

The Riverkeeper Cup Cleanup Challenge will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“It’s the volunteers who make it a continued success, so we are asking residents to participate and make a difference in your community,” said McGee.
